SHIKARPUR, Oct 4: At least seventeen persons including four women were seriously injured in a clash between rival groups of the Brohi community in Shahmir Junejo village here on Saturday evening.

The armed clash took place in the jurisdiction of the Amrote police station. The reason behind the clash is said to be an old dispute over the possession of a piece of agricultural land.

The injured including Asadullah, Abdul Manan, Illahi Bux, Ms Zarbano, Aisha, Sakina, Ganj Bibi and ten others were taken to the Civil Hospital Shikarpur for necessary medical attention.

SHOT DEAD: Bandits shot dead a man in Jarakh Brohi village in the jurisdiction of the Khanpur police station in the small hours of Saturday.

Around five bandits entered the house of Ghulam Hyder Brohi and tried to take away his buffalo. In the meantime Brohi woke up and put up resistance and raised alarm.

Other villagers also reached the spot and a brief exchange of fire took place between the villagers and the bandits. During the encounter, Ghulam Hyder Brohi received a bullet and died on the spot.

The culprits managed to escape leaving behind the buffalo. The Khanpur police have registered a case against unknown culprits and investigations are on.

HIGHWAY ROBBERY: Unidentified highwaymen robbed eight persons on the Indus Highway in the jurisdiction of the Khanpur police station when they were on their way in two separate cars to Kandhkot and Rahimabad late on Friday night.

According to reports, four PPP local leaders, Asif Malik, Imtiaz Ali Malik, Abdul Latif and Saleem Sorhyani were on their way to Kandhkot after offering fateha at the mazars of Benazir Bhutto and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto at Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto.

When they reached near Choi Shakh on the Indus Highway, around six armed men intercepted their cars and deprived them of cash, mobile sets, gold chains, rings and other valuables worth about Rs60,000 and fled.

On the same night, four persons including Councillor Bhooral Khan Brohi, Nawab Khan Brohi, Lal Bux Brohi and a car driver were deprived of their belongings by five unidentified armed men near Mangi Laaro on the

Indus Highway when they were coming back to Rahimabad from village Shabeerabad after a meeting with Dr Mohammad Ibrahim Jatoi.

SUICIDE: A woman, Allah Jeewai Mirani, committed suicide by consuming poison in Satoonpur Mohalla, Chak town on Friday night.

The motive behind the suicide is said to be some domestic affairs. Chak police have registered a case.
