MITHI, Oct 3: A large number of Meghwars, belonging to Kasbo and surrounding villages of Nagarparkar taluka, staged a demonstration outside the local press club to protest against what they called occupation of their houses by an influential Kolhi and his accomplices at the behest of local wadera of the ruling party.

The protesters alleged that they were residing in village Kasbo since long, however, an influential Kolhi, Dengo and others at the behest of a powerful local wadera of the ruling party, armed with clubs, axes and other weapons, attacked the houses of Meghwars a few days back, misbehaved with the women and children, forcibly pushed the Meghwars out of their houses, and also snatched jewellery from the women.

As a result, two women Leri wife of Geno, Santu wife of Paru, besides Hemum wife of Damo were injured and admitted to Mithi and Hyderabad hospitals.

Nagarparkar police, despite registering a case against those who stormed the houses of Meghwars in village Kasbo, were reluctant to initiate action against the accused Kolhis, who were enjoying patronage of local wadera of the ruling party, the Meghwars alleged.

The aggrieved Meghwars have appealed to the high-ups of the government to take notice of the matter and give justice to them.
