Published September 29, 2008

MIRPUR (Azad Kashmir), Sept 28: Modalities have been finalised for trade across the Line of Control in Kashmir through the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad and Poonch-Rawalakot routes, scheduled to commence from Oct 21.

President of the AJK Chamber of Commerce and Industry Zulfiqar Abbasi said on Sunday that trucks would be allowed to go to designated points on both sides of the LoC.

Computer-generated single-entry permits containing particulars of drivers, their licences and details of vehicles would be issued by respective trade officers.

The truck drivers would wear bright yellow and pink jackets with the name of the route inscribed on the back.

The trucks will ply between 9am and 4pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays on both routes.

Cargoes would be sealed by the trade facilitation officers and cargo manifests, indicating the items being carried, particulars of traders on both sides and packaging lists would accompany the consignment.—APP
