Credit card scheme for growers

BAHAWALPUR, Sept 28: The Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited will launch a credit card scheme for growers seeking loans, the bank chief said here on Sunday.

All bank branches across the country will be computerised by December, bank president Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf told participants of a function in connection with the computerisation of a bank branch. He said the bank would give farmers loans under a one-window scheme from Oct 6, adding that Rs72 billion had been allocated for this purpose.

RELEASED: Bahawalpur and Lodhran district and sessions judges visited various jails and ordered release of 69 prisoners involved in minor crimes, it is learnt.

CONVICTED: A local court on Saturday handed down Muhammad Shafiq life imprisonment and Rs95,000 fine for the murder of Dr Muhammad Aslam and abduction of Dr Javed Umar in Rahimyar Khan last year.
