SAHIWAL, Sept 28: A PML-N losing candidate for the provincial assembly seat, PP-222, Malik Arshad, has filed a Rs700 million damages suit against winner Malik Jalal Din Dhakko of the PML-Q for ‘defaming’ him.

After becoming MPA, Dhakko joined the forward bloc.

Dhakko had filed a case against Malik Arshad at Civil Lines police station under PPC 476, TP & 193, 194, 195 for harassing voters in the constituency during his election campaign.

The Sessions Court, Sahiwal, after hearing the parties, suspended Dhakko’s petition on Aug 7, 2008.

Now Malik Arshad has filed a Rs700 million damages suit against Dhakko in the court of district and sessions judge, Sahiwal, saying the fake cases damaged him ‘economically, politically, socially and mentally’.
