JACOBABAD, Sept 27: An open forum on ‘Amendment to tenancy act and land reforms’ was organised by the Prisoners and Poor Welfare Foundation, an NGO, in collaboration with the Sindh Porhiyat Council here at the press club on Saturday.

Addressing a fairly large number of people belonging to all walks of life, Comrade Ramzan Memon said that they had initiated a signature campaign for making amendments to the tenancy act and had invited the masses to take part in the drive.

He said that industrialists were now giving priority to the food sector and black-marketing in the agriculture sector, which was harmful to the farming community.

Mr Memon said that farmers, labourers and the middle class should get united to defeat the US monopoly and extremism. He urged the Pakistan People’s Party’s government to ensure registration of haris under the tenancy act.
