Padhiar for joint session of parliament

Published September 27, 2008

LAHORE, Sept 26: Member of the National Assembly Mehr Saeed Zafar Padhiar said on Friday that all political parties should shun differences and join hands for the unity and sovereignty of the country.

Mr Padhiar, a former provincial minister, told reporters on Friday the country was more important than anything else and it faced several challenges at present.

He said a joint session of parliament should be held without delay to discuss the prevailing situation and find appropriate solutions.

Also, he said, an all-party conference should be convened to get input from bigger as well as smaller parties.

All decisions should be taken unanimously, he said.

The MNA said which party or parties should rule Punjab was not a relevant issue at a time when the sovereignty of the country was being violated
