KARACHI: Water shortage in DHA

Published September 27, 2008

KARACHI, Sept 26: The managing director of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Ghulam Arif, called on the administrator of Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Brig Khalid Tirmizi, at his office on Friday and discussed the problem of water shortage in DHA.

Brig Tirmizi said DHA was getting less supply of water from KWSB which was causing a water shortage in the area.

He said on an average DHA was getting two MGD less supply of water against its quota of nine MGD.

The administrator said the situation had further aggravated since the DHA Cogeneration Plant had temporarily been shut down due to technical reasons and consequently three MGD desalinated water supply had also been disrupted.

He requested the MD water board to increase the water supply to DHA so that the water problems of the residents could be resolved.

Mr Ghulam Arif assured the administrator that the board would start supplying more water to DHA after Eid.—APP
