ISLAMABAD, Sept 25: Soon after taking oath as the Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Sardar Mohammad Raza Khan said on Thursday that he was missing deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.

“I am missing Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry,” the acting Chief Justice said in an informal chat with journalists.

Justice Raza will be the acting chief justice during the absence of Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar who is in Saudi Arabia to perform Umra.

Senior judge Justice Faqir Mohammad Khokhar administered the oath in the committee room of the Supreme Court.

The ceremony was attended by judges of the Supreme Court, chief justice and judges of the Islamabad High Court, senior lawyers and law officers. The law secretary was not present on the occasion.

Justice Raza said that remaining a deposed judge for more than 10 months, and spending the period inside his house in the Judges’ Colony was a “nerve shattering” experience. He said keeping him away from his judicial work was like torture.
