Woman accepts proposal after 25 years

Published September 26, 2008

RIYADH, Sept 25: A Saudi woman has got married to a childhood suitor by accepting his marriage proposal 25 years after it was made.

Saudi daily Al-Medina said the 40-year-old man received the news of the acceptance of the proposal when the bride’s representative called him on the phone.

The representative said the lady had considered a lot of proposals during the past quarter of a century, but rejected all of them and finally realised that the one made when she was a girl was the best.

The newspaper, which did not identify the couple, said the man has children with another woman.
