ISLAMABAD, Sept 24: A four-member appellate tribunal will hear the appeal of two Pakistani athletes, Noshee Parveen and Mohammad Shah, who were banned for two years by the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) for using contraband drugs.

AFP secretary Khalid Mahmood told Dawn on Wednesday that the tribunal was formed after the athletes filed an appeal with the federation.

Earlier, the AFP on recommendations of a five-member enquiry committee headed by the Pakistan Olympic Association associate secretary Mohammad Yayha banned the players for two years.

They were among the top six national athletes who were vying for wild-card entries in the Beijing Olympics.

Regarding members of the appellate tribunal, Khalid said: “It will be headed by Pakistan Sports Board director general Amir Hamza Gillani with Col Shujaat Ali Rana, Salman Iqbal Butt, and Dr Meesaq Rizvi as its members.”
