KARACHI, Sept 20: Off-spinner Iqbal Sheikh, in an amazing spell, grabbed four wickets to spin Qasmi Cricket Club to the Karachi Gymkhana Twenty20 Ramazan cricket tournament quarter-finals as they beat Star XI by six wickets at the KG Ground on Friday.

Qasmi CC emerged as the Group ‘B’ champions. But despite the defeat Star XI also qualified for the last-eight round after securing the runners-up spot in the group.

Star XI batting crumbled against Iqbal as they were bowled out for a modest 108 in 19.4 overs. Wasim Naeem hit 30 off 22 balls with five boundaries and Qamar Ibrahim got 26 with three sixes. Test batsman Shadab Kabir made 18 with the aid of four hits to the boundary.

Qasmi CC, in reply, reached the target in 18 overs for the loss of four wickets. Rehan Azam made 33 off 36 and Iqbal Sheikh made 24 off 16 deliveries with a brace of sixes and a four.

Iqbal was named man-of-the-match for his all-round show.
