Youth kills aunt for ‘honour’

TOBA TEK SINGH, Sept 20: A youth killed his aunt over ‘honour’ on Saturday near Pirmahal.

According to Arrouti police, accused Imran had seen his aunt Ameeran Bibi in objectionable state with her paramour and tortured her to death on the spot.

The accused managed to escape after committing the crime.

Police are conducting raids for his arrest.

LITERACY CENTRE: A literacy centre has been set up by district social welfare department in local Darul Amaan (shelter).

An official said on Saturday the shelter-less women staying in Darul Amaan would be taught in the centre while they would also be imparted vocational training there.

Darul Amaan superintendent Samreen Baloch said most of the women sent by courts to such shelters belonged to poor class and had not even attended primary schools.

DIES: Former MNA Malik Nadir Tiwana died in a hospital in Lahore on Saturday after a protracted illness. He was 74.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.

He was elected MNA in 1968 in a by-election. He was also a member of Ziaul Haq's Majlis-i-Shoora.

He will be laid to rest in DHA graveyard on Sunday (today).
