HYDERABAD, May 8: The executive district officer (education), Hyderabad, in a communication addressed to the Sindh secretary for education, referred to the report of the district officer (DO) which said that the higher secondary schools of Hyderabad city were not functioning successfully in the absence of admission policy.

The report said that the practice of the students securing “A” and “B” grades to seek admission in other government degree colleges and institutions leaving behind the “C” and “D” grade students to continue in XI and XII classes had resulted in the decline in the standard of education in those particular institutions.

The EDO referred to the minutes of the meeting held on March 27 under the chairmanship of the DO (education), secondary and higher secondary, in which Hafiz Matloob Ahmed Chishti, chairman, Tanzeem Walden Asataza Action Committee, Khadija Girls High School, Mukhi House, had put up certain proposals which needed the approval of the secretary.

Mr Chishti’s proposal said that it was imperative for the Sindh government to frame and adopt a policy to bind down the students to continue their education in the same higher secondary school from which they had cleared their matriculation examinations.
