15 gastroenteritis patients in hospital

SAHIWAL, Sept 17: As many as 15 gastroenteritis patients, including five children, were shifted to Chichawatni THQ hospital on Wednesday during the third day of the emergency medical camp set up near Goashala and Christian Colony katchi abadis.

Reports said the camp staff on Wednesday examined 60 people and shifted 15 of them to hospital. The health officials extended the medical camp for another day.

They distributed chlorination tablets named ‘Aquapure’ and ORS packets among residents of the disease-hit areas.

Local MNA Chaudhry Zahid Iqbal has donated 700 drips of ‘Ringer Solution’ to the medical camp for dehydrated patients.

Deputy District Health Officer Dr Shakoorur Rahman told this correspondent that a vaccination camp for typhoid and cholera would be launched in the katchi abadis in the coming two or three days.

Meanwhile, scores of people have demanded installation of a water treatment plant in the area.

CHEAP ROTI: On the directions of the Punjab government, the district administration has announced provision of roti at Rs2.50 at four hotels in Sahiwal.

This was said by DDO (R) Muhammad Amin Awasi here on Wednesday.

He said Master Hotel at Kot Khadim Ali, Lahore Tikka House at Mazdoor Puli, Haji Hotel at Jogi Chowk and Amin Hotel at Jahaz ground would provide roti to the people at the official rate during Ramazan.

In the entire district hotels and tandoors are providing 100 gram a roti at Rs4.
