Waqas dazzles in AKG tournament

KARACHI, Sept 16: Waqas Haroon struck a rapid-fire century as Dewan Farooq Motors thrashed Qasmi Cricket Club by 139 runs in the AKG Twenty20 Ramazan cricket tournament at the AKG Ground on Monday.

The right-handed Waqas hammered an unbeaten 104 off mere 49 balls studded with seven boundaries and as many as eight sixes.

Waqas’ belligerent knock lifted the total to a healthy 181 for four in the allotted 20 overs.

In reply, Qasmi CC crashed to 42 all out in 15 overs, the tournament’s lowest total so far. Amjad Waqas picked up three wickets for 11 while Zaheer claimed three for 14.

In the matches played on Sunday, Aga Khan Gymkhana and Medicam Cricket Club won their respective matches.
