OKARA, Sept 14: Police killed two alleged absconders in an ‘encounter’ near village 51/5-L, Yousafwala, on Sunday. Three constables were also injured in the crossfire.

Police said Zakir Husain had allegedly killed constable Gul Nawaz in 2000 near Shabhoor police station.

On Sunday, Okara police along with Yousafwala police raided village 51/5-L at 2pm, and after 30-minute crossfire police killed Zakir and his accomplice Ashiq Husain. Constables Hamid Ijaz and Muhammad Akram from Okara and Elite Force Inspector Rao Irshad Ahmed were also injured and shifted to the District Headquarters hospital.

Okara police also found a 44 bore rifle, a 22 bore rifle and an 8mm rifle, a pump action and a 30 bore pistol near the bodies.

SAHIWAL: According to ASP Junaid, accused Zakir killed constable Gul Nawaz in 2005 during a dacoity bid. The bodies of Zakir and Ashiq were shifted to Sahiwal DHQ hospital for autopsy. The heir to Ashiq alleged police were reluctant to hand over his body to them.
