Watchman injured in clash with robbers

LAHORE, Sept 13: A watchman of a spare parts factory sustained injuries during a crossfire with robbers on Captain Jamal Road in Sanda police limits early on Saturday.

Reports said three armed men came to the factory of Bao Hameed at around 2am and tried to overpower watchman Ahmad Khan. The watchman opened fire which was retaliated by one of the robbers. In the crossfire, Ahmad sustained bullet injuries. He was admitted to hospital.

The robbers, however, succeeded in escaping from the spot empty-handed. Sanda police, however, termed the incident a quarrel between two parties.

In another incident, two robbers shot at and injured a mills accountant, Tauqeer, in Gulberg in Naseerabad police precincts.

Tauqeer withdrew Rs500,000 from a bank branch in Gulberg and left on his car. Near Centre Point, two motorcyclists tried to stop him at gunpoint, but the car driver did not stop. The robbers opened fire on him and escaped empty-handed. Two robbers stopped Manzar Fareed in North Cantonment police limits and snatched Rs65,000 in cash and a cell phone from him.

Four gunmen robbed Sharafat Ali of Rs27,600, a cell phone and motorcycle in Kot Lakhpat, while as many robbers deprived Abdul Razzaq of his motorcycle in Harbanspura. Naeem Tariq was deprived of Rs10,000 and two cell phones in Mozang, while Aamir Raza was robbed of Rs21,000 in cash and two cell phones.
