Transporters oppose tax

Published September 12, 2008

MULTAN, Sept 11: Transporters on Thursday blocked Kamharanwala Chowk for more than one hour in protest against a tax imposed by the city district government.

The transporters blocked the road by parking their vehicles at Kamharanwala Chowk, raised slogans against District Nazim Mian Faisal Mukhtar and demanded that the new tax be withdrawn.

Speaking to the protesters, a speaker said a relative of a member of the National Assembly belonging to the PML-N was collecting the tax, which was earlier abolished by the chief minister.
