KOHAT, Sept 11: The headless bodies of two cadets of Police Training College Hangu, kidnapped a week ago, were found in Shahu area of Hangu district on Thursday, officials said.

The militants had been demanding Rs70.5 million for the release of 30 kidnapped cadets as ransom. They were identified as Arshad and Aziz ur Rehman residents of Swat. Police shifted the dead bodies to the hospital and later dispatched them to their native village.

The militants who kidnapped the cadets on September 3 in Orakzai Agency had left a message with the dead bodies asking the district police officer and district coordination officer to ‘wait for more dead bodies.'

The cadets were kidnapped while coming from Peshawar to Hangu via Khyber and Orakzai agencies.

CONVOY ATTACKED: Militants attacked a military convoy passing through Akhorwal area of Darra Adamkhel by exploding a remote controlled device planted on the roadside on Thursday.The remote controlled bomb had been planted near a seminary to target the convoy which was bringing water for the security forces deployed at various checkposts.

However, nobody was hurt in the attack and slight damaged was caused to few vehicles. Soon after the attack the security forces arrested four suspects along with a jeep bearing registration number C-11-Kohistan.

The suspects identified as Abdul Waheed, Noor Mohammad alias Mohammad and Surat were shifted to Spina Thana for interrogation.

HOUSE ATTACKED: Militants tried to blow up the house of former provincial minister for irrigation in Hangu district with a home made bomb on late Wednesday night.

The militants had put explosive in a ghee canister and planted it near the boundary wall of the house of former provincial minister Ghaniur Rehman. The blast damaged the wall of the house by making a four-feet wide hole in it.

The minister told journalists that local chief of Taliban Maulvi Mohammad Nabi had been threatening him for the last several months. He said that he was sure that the attack was made by the Taliban who wanted to eliminate him for his policies.

Mr Ghani escaped attempt on his life last year when unidentified persons planted a bomb on the route of his house. He was then district nazim.

The Hangu police have registered a case and started investigations. The minister had not nominated the Taliban chief in the FIR.

KIDNAPPED: Unidentified persons kidnapped a businessman Mohammad Afzal on Thursday.

The victim, who belongs to Ibraheemzai, was traveling on Hangu-Peshawar road via Khyber Agency. He was reportedly kidnapped by Taliban who had established checkposts on the alternate route due to the closure of Kohat Tunnel.
