Six girls to pay for elders’ whim

SHIKARPUR, Sept 6: A jirga has decided to hand over six minor girls of up to 13 years old, in a so-called compensation of two murders, to aggrieved party. The jirga was held in village Ali Muhammad near Khairpur, on Friday.

The Jirga was held by the notable Mir Niaz Hussain Khan Jatoi.

According to reliable sources Ali Muhammad Jatoi and Ali Khan Jatoi were killed in the firing by Bago Jatoi men. The men had attacked the houses of deceased with automatic weapons.

The Jirga found Bago Jatoi guilty and fined him to hand over six minor girls, besides imposing Rs100,000 for police expenses. The names of girls could not be ascertained.

Police did not confirm holding of the jirga.

LOOTED: A passenger bus was looted by dacoits on Mehmooda Bagh link road in the jurisdiction of Rustam police station on Friday night evening.

The bus was going from Shikarpur to Mehmooda Bagh when armed men intercepted it and looted cash, cellphones and other valuables from passengers.

The dacoits escaped while firing in the air. No FIR was lodged.
