Eight MPs of PML-Q back Asif

ISLAMABAD, Sept 1: Eight lawmakers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q called on Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Monday and assured him of their support for Asif Ali Zardari in the presidential election.

The lawmakers are: Acting Senate Chairman Jan Mohammad Jamali, Senators Mir Wali Mohammad Badini, Amjad Abbas, Mohabat Khan, Zafar Iqbal, Kalsoon Perveen, Rehana Yahya and MNA Mir Ahmadan Bugti.

Several delegations of parliamentarians from the NWFP also met the prime minister and extended support for Mr Zardari.

The delegations comprised Senators, MNAs and MPAs.

They said their support for Mr Zardari was for strengthening democracy and the federation and promoting political harmony.

NWFP Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti, ANP leader Asfandyar Wali and Leader of Opposition in the NWFP assembly Akram Khan Durrani led the delegations.—Staff Reporter
