BEIJING, Sept 1: Pakistan’s contingent to take part in the 13th Paralympic Games arrived here from Islamabad on Monday morning.

“We have high expectations from all athletes, particularly from Haider Ali who won gold medal in last year’s Asian Games in Kuala Lampur,” Pakistan chef de mission Imran Jamil Shami said at the airport here.

The 14-member contingent was presented bouquets and warmly received by senior officials of the Pakistan embassy and organisers of the Paralympic Games.

Shami, the secretary general of the National Paralympics Committee (NPC) of Pakistan, said they had enough time before start of the Games to adapt to Chinese weather.

He added that Pakistan had also acquired the services of foreign coaches to provide maximum training to contesting athletes.

The Games will be held from Sept 6 to 17.—APP
