NIB Bank profits up by Rs659m

KARACHI, Aug 28: The NIB Bank on Thursday announced its half-year results, with Rs659 million as profit-after-tax and the total revenue as Rs4.1 billion.

The bank said the consumer and SME business constituted 53 per cent of loans, up from 49 per cent in December 2007.

The NIB has shown strong growth in all areas. It implemented unique business models in 35 SME branches and almost 100 self- employed mass market branches.

“Our loans and low-cost deposits are growing as per plan. We hired 1,800 people in the first half of 2008 and are continuing to invest heavily in new technology to serve our customers more efficiently,” said a press release. NIB Bank’s total branches have reached at 240, with almost 7,500 employees.
