ISLAMABAD, Aug 21: Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) announced ‘Squash Vision 2011’ programme with an aim to enable Pakistan to produce a world squash champion after three years.

“With ‘Squash Vision 2011’ Pakistan would be able to have a world champion in the international squash circuit” observed the Senior Vice President PSF AVM Asim Suleman, while speaking to the media on Thursday.

About the game development plans of PSF, he pointed, “We have strategized a long term game development plan from infrastructure to talent hunt as in the next two years PSF will enhance its facilities in 20 districts of Pakistan and provide qualified coaches to the players”.

Regarding the shock exit of Aamir Atlas Khan from the individual fixture of the World Junior men’s squash championship, Suleman remarked “Aamir has the talent and we know that he had lost an individual event but helped us win the team event of the world junior championship”.

Aamir, World No.24, lost to Egypt’s Mohammad El Shorbagy, World No.60, in the individual event of championship held in Zurich, Switzerland.

When asked about the criticism of squash legends, Jansher Khan and Jahangir Khan, on the recent debacle of Aamir Atlas Khan in the individual event of the world junior championship, PSF official said “it is a pessimistic approach as we are talking about the whole team”.

He added “if he (Aamir) lost the individual final but also covered it by winning the team event and you have to give him the credit”. PSF also announced the schedule for participation of the team in various international events including the World Open-2008, England, Qatar Classic-2008, Qatar, Hong Kong Open-2008, Hong Kong, and Abu Dhabi Open-2008, Abu Dhabi.
