JHANG, August 15: A young married woman was shot dead by her brother and cousin in Karimala village, 45 km from here, on Thursday night.

The motive behind the murder is stated to be the love marriage between the deceased and her lover, now husband, one year ago.

Saleem Bibi of Karimala contracted marriage with Amanullah of Langrana, Chiniot, without the consent of her family and started living with her husband in Langrana.

A panchayat made her return to her parents with the promise that her parents would again return her to her husband through an honourable marriage ceremony.

On Thursday evening when Saleem was present in her parents house, her brother Mubashar, along with his accomplices, cousin Asad and Javed ,came there and shot at her with a gun, killing her on the spot.

Her husband Amanullah reported the matter to the police.
