SUKKUR, Aug 14: Five people, including women, were injured when a group of armed men raided and torched their houses in village Jungal, near Thull on Thursday.

The incident happened following the court marriage of Zaheer Ahmed Pahore and Rasti, daughter of Abdul Latif Pahore, who had run away from their houses to get married a few days ago.

The couple got married of their own free will at Karachi city court on Wednesday.

Zaheer Ahmed, son of Mohammad Ali Pahore, and Rasti were residents of village Jungal.

Their marriage sparked the anger of girl’s elders who, according to reports, attacked the house of Mohammad Ali Pahore and his brother’s house Inayatullah Pahore and manhandled men, women and children there.

Mohammad Ali Pahore, his wife Hakim Zadi, Rani, wife of Inayatullah Pahore, Amanullah and Kashif were injured in the attack.

Before fleeing, the armed men torched their houses.

The injured were shifted to Thull Hospital.

Mohammad Ali Pahore in his statement to the police claimed that the girl’s father, Abdul Latif Pahore, along with his accomplices attacked their houses, beat them and set fire to their houses.
