RAWALPINDI, Aug 7: A court bailiff appointed by a district and sessions judge here on Thursday recovered two children from the custody of their father and handed them over to their claimant mother.

Malik Lal Khan along with the area police raided the house of Anwar Shahzad in Chorr Harpal and recovered two-year-old Zindigi Shahzad and six-month-old Ayan Illahi and handed them over to “on temporary bail” to their mother, Farhat Shahzad.

Judge Attaullah Kosar directed the parents to appear in the court on August 18 to decide about the custody of the minors.

Farhat moved the court, saying she was married with Anwar on December 4, 2004, and lived happily thereafter, but three days ago her husband forced her out of his house over a domestic issue and snatched the children who were too young to be taken away from their mother.

Meanwhile, two additional district and sessions judges (ASJ) awarded one-year imprisonment each to three men for carrying narcotics, besides imposing fine on them.

ASJ Abdul Noor Nasir sentenced Mardan Shah to one year in prison for carrying 1,025 grams charas. The judge also imposed Rs20,000 fine on the convict who was arrested by the Sadiqabad police. In case of non-payment of the fine, the man would have to undergo one-month extra imprisonment.—Our Reporter
