HYDERABAD, Aug 6: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has proposed a ban on wall chalking and pasting of posters on walls, which he says give a very ugly look to the city.

The nazim asked members of task force for the beautification of the city during a meeting at his secretariat to implement the beautification programme by planting trees along both sides of the roads.

He said that through proper supervision and monitoring, better results could be achieved with less expense. Most of the development works carried out over the past three years, such as construction of filter plants, sewerage treatment plants and laying of sewerage lines had remained invisible so the union councils should give proper attention to beautification and plantation work.

The forest department had about 100,000 saplings and the HDA had the required machinery, which could be profitably used to beautify the city. Good results could be achieved by planting trees during monsoon season, he advised.

He said that mini taxi and van stands had greatly added to traffic problems, therefore, they should be shifted from the densely populated areas.
