LARKANA, Aug 4: A large number of people from different localities of the city protested against Hesco and municipal administration’s failure to drain out rainwater.

The protesters burnt tyres outside the residence of Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Speaker Sindh Assembly, and alleged that neither Hesco was restoring power supply nor the municipal authorities were making any arrangements for draining out rainwater.

They said they had to splash through stagnant water to reach their homes. Besides, it would cause diseases to break out if the water stagnated, they feared.

It stopped raining late on Sunday night, leaving behind almost all the low-lying areas and streets and roads filled with water. People in Latif Colony, Brohi Mohalla, Siddik Colony and union council-3 and 4 also demonstrated at Naudero Chowk and urged the municipal authorities and Hesco to restore power and pump out rainwater.
