ISLAMABAD, Aug 3: Two persons were murdered in separate incidents in the capital city on Sunday, police said.

A security guard deployed outside Sir Syed Memorial building located in Sector G-5 was found dead in his room. The victim was identified as Mohammad Ajmal, 26, a resident of Chakwal district.

The police quoted the victim's colleagues as saying that they left for shopping after leaving Ajmal behind on duty at around 12 noon. On return, they found their colleague absent and the guards' room locked from outside. They assumed that he left the place for some personal reason.

However, they started searching from him when Ajmal's brother arrived at the spot at 3pm and inquired about him. One of the guards found him lying on the floor of the room when he peeped through the window. The guards entered the room after breaking the door lock and found him dead with a shirt and a bedspeard wrapped around his neck.

Later, the Secretariat police were informed, who reached the crime scene and shifted the body to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) for legal process.

Separately, a teenager was shot dead by a boy in the same age group at Iqbal Town. The police said Mohammad Imran, 18, a native of Abbottabad, was shot dead by another teenager in a wooded area of Iqbal Town. Shortly after getting information about the incident, the police arrived at the spot and shifted the body to Pims.

The police claimed to have arrested Imran's alleged killer. The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained as the police were still to interrogate the accused.

Meanwhile, 16 passengers suffered multiple injuries when a wagon going to Peshawar from Rawalpindi overturned at Sarai Karboza.

The police said the accident occurred when one of the vehicle's tyres burst. Rescue 1122 staff rushed to the spot and gave first aid to the injured before shifting them to a hospital. All the injured were stated to be in stable condition.
