ISLAMABAD, July 31: Afghan Ambassador Mohammad Anwar Anwarzai was summoned to the Foreign Office on Thursday to convey Pakistan’s concerns about security of its diplomats in Afghanistan after a bomb explosion outside its consulate in Heart.
Lodging a protest and condemning the blast, Pakistan criticised the Afghan government for not being serious about the security of diplomats based in Afghanistan.
“The government of Pakistan holds the government of Afghanistan responsible for the safety and security of its personnel in its embassy in Kabul and consulates in Herat, Kandahar, Jalalabad and Mazar-i-Sharif. We hope that the government of Afghanistan will take its responsibility seriously,” said a Foreign Office statement.
“Ambassador Anwarzai was summoned to convey the grave concerns of the Pakistan government,” Foreign Office spokesman Mohammad Sadiq said.
