KHANEWAL, July 29: DCO has warned those involved in scrutiny of the lists of ‘deserving’ families in connection with the Food Stamp Scheme to act judiciously or be ready to face anti-corruption cases.

Talking to Dawn here on Tuesday, DCO Qazi Muhammad Ashfaq said the scrutiny committees comprised the patwaris, lady health visitors, social welfare officials, teachers and others.

“We are properly monitoring these committees by counterchecking the lists to ascertain whether the people being short listed are genuine or not,” he said.

He said Revenue EDO Abdul Rashid Razi was the focal person for scrutinising the deserving people across the district. The district administration would achieve its target of enlisting 40,000 deserving people to facilitate them through FSS within stipulated time, he added.

CENTRE SETUP: A facilitation centre in connection with Investment Tax Scheme-2008 has been setup here.

According to Income Tax Officer Ghulam Nasir, anyone, whether a tax payer or not, having purchased any moveable or immoveable property during the last year could deposit two percent of its total value as Investment Tax at the centre and get declared a ‘Fair Investor’.
