RAWALPINDI, July 28: The All-Pakistan Local Government Workers Federation here on Monday held a protest demonstration against non-payment of pension to the heirs of those employees who died during official duties.

The employees of the city district government and town municipal administrations gathered in front of Rawal Town Municipal Administration offices. Over a hundred people including women along with APLGWF President Raja Abdul Qayyum, Secretary-General Pervaiz Cheeda and other office-bearers participated in the protest.

Addressing the gathering, the workers' leaders said the city district government had failed to provide pension to the families of the late workers for the last over two years. "If our demands were not met within a week, we would hold rallies, strike for our rights," they said.

They also condemned transfer of six sanitary inspectors of Potohar and Rawal Town to Murree and said the decision was illegal.
