Two killed in road accident

SHEIKHUPURA, July 25: Two passengers were killed and eight injured when a truck hit their van on GT Road near Kala Shah Kaku on Friday.

The van, on its way to Gujranwala from Lahore, met an accident when its driver tried to overtake a truck. Two passengers were killed at the scene, while eight were injured. The injured were taken to Lahore’s Mayo Hospital.

BOILER EXPLODES: Six workers suffered burn injuries when boiler of a furnace exploded here on Friday.

The workers were melting scrap in Shalimar Steel Mills near Mandiali when the boiler exploded. As a result, workers Khalid, Rashid, Akhtar, Ashraf, Nazir and Hafiz suffered burn injuries. The condition of Akhtar, Nazir and Rashid was critical and they were referred to Mayo Hospital. —Correspondent
