ATTOCK, July 25: Four children of a local labourer drowned in a deep pond filled with flood water at Nawababad village of Fatehjang on Friday evening.

Police said Uzhair, 8, Muhammad Amir, 7, Erum, 6, and Gul Naheed, 5, children of Akhtar Khan Pathan, were swimming in the pond to beat the heat outside their village at 3pm. The matter came to light when some passers-by spotted the clothes of the children lying outside the pond.

They informed the local police, who fished out the bodies with the help of local villagers and shifted them to tehsil headquarters hospital, Fatehjhang.

The sub divisional Police officer Fatehjhang police circle DSP Ahmed Javed, who was also present at the site of the incident, told Dawn that presumably it was a drowning incident, but the police is investigating the incident to ascertain the cause of the deaths.
