QUETTA, July 24: A powerful explosion rocked the Nawab Nooraz Khan footabal Stadium in Mastung on Thursday, damaging a portion of the boundary wall. Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani and six provincial ministers were witnessing a football match when the blast took place.

The blast caused panic but the chief minister remained seated till the end of the final of All-Pakistan Sardar Hhadur Khan Bngulzai football tournament. He turned down his security team’s advice to leave the place.

A police officer told Dawn that the bomb had been planted in a graveyard adjacent to the boundary wall of the stadium.

An inquiry has been ordered and a team of senior police officers has been constituted.
