HYDERABAD, July 24: Nine councillors of Sanger Chang union council of Chambar taluka, Tando Allahyar district, have said that they have adopted a resolution expressing no confidence in the UC nazim and the naib nazim and sent it to the Election Commission for issuing a notification in this regard.

They, however, said that they were now being threatened with dire consequences by the nazim and the naib nazim belonging to the Azad Magsi Ittehad led by Tando Allahyar District Nazim Rahila Magsi.

Addressing a news conference at the press club, Sultan Khaskheli, Abdul Ghafoor Laghari, Mariam Rind and other councillors said that in accordance with the Sindh Local Government Ordinance they adopted a no confidence motion in Union Council Nazim Lakhi Rind and Naib Nazim Zulfiqar Thebo on July 14 and sent it to the chief election commissioner for issuing a notification.

They accused the nazim and the naib nazim of massive corruption and said that they had not convened a single meeting of the council over the past nine months.

They said that the influential nazim and the naib nazim were threatening them with dire consequences.

They appealed to the Sindh government to provide them protection and to order a detailed inquiry into the alleged corrupt practices of the nazim and the naib nazim.

Answering a question, they said that they were not affiliated with any political party and had been elected as independent candidates.
