SHEIKHUPURA, July 21: A handcuffed prisoner fled from police custody when he was being taken from Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore to Narang police station on Monday.

A Narang police party led by sub-inspector (SI) Imdad Shah were taking Mushtaq, alias Kalu, to Narang due to his alleged involvement in another case.

When the police vehicle was passing through Muridke, the prisoner guarded by two constables jumped out of it and disappeared in commercial area on G.T. Road.

SI Imdad and the two constables were suspended from services and a case was registered against them.

SHOOTOUT: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and a constable were injured during a shootout with a proclaimed offender (PO) in Rajian Araian village in Sharqpur police precincts on Monday.

ASI Bahar Shahzad and constable Riasat raided the hideout of PO Ilyas on which he shot at them and fled. Both the policemen received bullet injuries. The police registered a case against Ilyas and 15 others.
