SUKKUR, July 18: Jamaat-i-Islami Naib Amir Professor Abdul Ghafoor Ahmed has said that the country is passing through a critical phase and leaders of both the major coalition parties are abroad and the situation according to him indicated a possibility of a change.

He was talking to journalists here on Friday after addressing a function at Dar-ul-uloom Tafheem-ul-Quran. He said that both the major coalition partners were moving in opposite directions and it seemed that the coalition would not last long.

He said that situation in the country had become grave and Mian Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari were out of country but they should realise that the country’s affairs were supreme to their personal affairs.

Mr Ghafoor said that pro-Musharraf personalities like Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhitar, Rehman Malik and Hussain Haqqani were part of the government and many of the government functionaries had indirect contacts with President Pervez Musharraf and in this situation he does not see the President being impeached.

He said that the government had disappointed the people by deviating from Bhurban declaration. He said the government did not have majority in national assembly and senate for getting approved the constitutional package aimed at for restoration of deposed judges.

He termed the performance of the government in 100 days disappointing. He said no relief was provided to the people and the price hike had made the lives of people hell.

TEHRIK-I-INSAF: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf leader Zubair Khan has termed the present PPP government an ally of President Pervez Musharraf and has alleged that the government is following a US agenda by continuing president Musharraf’s policies.

He urged the people to joint the struggle to get rid of them.

He was addressing a press conference at the local press club.

He said Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto went to gallows instead of bending to the designs of a dictator.

Some vested interests were trying to damage the popularity of the party through a conspiracy, and the killing of Ms Benazir Bhutto was also the part of an anti-Pakistan agenda, the PTI leader said.
