LARKANA, July 18: The 23rd death anniversary of Mir Shahnanwaz Bhutto was observed here on Friday. The Pakistan People’s Party and PPP (Shaheed Bhutto) arranged Quran Khwanai at Al-Murtaza House and Bhutto House, Naudero, and later distributed food.

The people who gathered for the occasion included Speaker Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Sindh Minister for Women Development Ms Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto, MPA Haji Munwar Ali Abbasi, former MNA Anwar Bhutto.

Despite efforts, a few party workers attended the event while none of the leaders visited the grave of Shahnawaz Bhutto, said PPP Larkana District Information Secretary Asghar Shaikh.

Most of the MNAs, MPAs’ and office-bearers of Ratodero and Dokri failed to attend the anniversary, he said.

The local PPP leadership had disappointed people, while a few tried to foil efforts of Asif Zardari and MNA Faryal Talpur, he said.

Regarding appointments on important posts, he said, the local leadership had filled these with their relatives, whereas menial positions such as of peons and watchmen were left for workers, he said and appealed to Asif Zardari and Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take notice of it.

He told Dawn on Friday that he would raise the issue before Asif Zardari.

PPP (Shaheed Bhutto) held Quran Khawani at Al-Murtaza and also served food.

General Secretary PPP (SB) Yunis Behan and others paid tribute to the departed soul and said that sacrifice of Shahnawaz Bhutto will never be forgotten for he gave his life for the party. Speakers dubbed him a revolutionary leader.
