RAWALPINDI, May 4: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has failed to maintain adequate water supply in some localities within its jurisdiction, citizens complained.

The tubewells of Tench Bata, RA Bazaar and Mughalabad have been out of order for more than a week. The people of these localities have been deprived of their water supply due to the defective tubewells. However, the RCB has neither bothered to repair the machines nor made alternative arrangements to supply water to these areas.

The citizens alleged that the RCB concentrated all its attention on providing facilities to the areas populated by the retired and serving army officials and neglected the civilians even while the former were exempted and the latter burdened with taxes. Whatever is collected from the poor civilian localities gets spent on the posh armymen’s neighbourhoods, they maintained.

PPI ADDS: There is an acute water shortage in Khurram Colony, Sadiqabad.

The residents said Wasa had not been supplying enough water to their locality for the last several weeks.
