Women’s judo from Aug 15

KARACHI, July 17: A three-day National Judo Championship for women under the auspicious of the Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) will commence from Aug 15 at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad.

The championship featuring nine teams, namely, Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, NWFP, Islamabad, Army, Wapda, Railways and Police will be competing in eight weight categories ranging from under-44kg to under-74 and open weight.

According to Col Rana Shujaat Ali, president of the federation, “In our efforts to popularise and promote the gentle sport of judo in Pakistan, we are also looking into offering lucrative cash awards to the winners this time.”—Sports Reporter
