KARACHI, May 4: Unfancied Muhammad Younus caused a major shock on the fourth day of 12th National Shooting Championnship to topple favorites Irshad Ali and Tariq Manzoor from Pakistan Navy.

Younus mustered the score of 614.9/709 to strike the gold. Major Idrees grab the silver and Irshad Ali contended with a bronze.

After Sindh’s Captain Mahmood Sultan took the trap gold on Thursday, Younus’ gold was another rude shock for Navy shooters who have dominated the competition.

Only two skeet rounds were fired after which competition was stopped due to fading lights. Ahmed Sultan was leading the contest with Amin Karamat on his shoulders. Three more rounds will be held on Sunday.

Miss Nazish Khan produced a record-breaking performance when she took the gold in Air Rifle with score 385/400 to set a new mark. She beat her own record of 380/400 created during the Islamabad Open last year.
