SUKKUR, July 13: Almost all the big and small public parks in the city are in a shambles due to apparent negligence of the departments concerned, condition of almost all the public parks in the city is in a shambles.

A survey conducted on Sunday said that the public parks Mohammad Bin Qasim Park, Ghaznavi Park, Latif Park, Ladies Park, Mohammad Ali Johar Park, Fatima Children Park and Tek Chand Mol Chand Nursery are in a very bad shape, depriving city dwellers, particularly women and children, of the already recreation facilities.

Heaps of garbage and construction material can be seen littered about the parks. Idrees Jamal, chairman of parks committee, alleged that the funds allocated for the parks in last year’s budget were not spent due to negligence of the officers concerned.

A member of taluka council Sukkur Deedar Magsi said that all the parks were in a very bad condition due to lack of supervision and added that over last three years district and taluka councils had spent huge amount on Latif Park old Sukkur, but nothing changed the fate of the park and now once again huge amount was being spent on the park.
