BUNER: Girl shot dead in Buner

BUNER, July 13: A young girl was gunned down allegedly over her refusal to marry a man in Maskipur village here on Sunday, residents and police said.

They said that Hakeem Bahadar along with two accomplices barged into the house of one Sartaj Hussain in the Maskipur village. They dragged out his daughter Asia and sprayed her with bullets killing her on the spot. The victim, Asia, had turned down a marriage proposal of Hakeem, which had infuriated him.

The Nawagai police station registered a case on the report of Sartaj Hussain against Hakeem and his two unidentified accomplices and had started investigation.

BENAZIR BHUTTO AWARD: The in-charge of Population Welfare Centre Bajkatta, Buner, Fauzia Durrani, won the Benazir Bhutto Award.

She received the award from Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani at a ceremony held in Islamabad on the eve of the World Population Day the other day. — Correspondetn
