HYDERABAD, May 4: The Nazim of Chinni, Johi taluka, Dadu district, and a tribal chief, Rais Ghulam Ali Shahani, and the tribal chief of Gahichas, Baddo Jabal, Sehwan taluka, and Rais Raza Mohammad Gahicho have appealed to President Gen Pervez Musharraf to come to the rescue of the people of the area who have been deprived of their basic rights by the Lasmo.

In a joint communication addressed to the president, the tribal chiefs claimed that the area where the Lasmo was operating had belonged to the local people since a long time.

They said that the people had been deprived of the basic facilities.

They said that even the royalty was not being given to the original owners of the lands which had now been leased out to Lasmo whereas the other people had been paid the same.

They alleged that the funds made available for the welfare of the people of the area were being misappropriated.

They pointed out that recently a mob, which had gathered to demand jobs, was fired upon and a young man belonging to the Mari tribe had been killed.

They expressed the hope that President Gen Pervez Musharraf would take notice of the excesses against the people of the area and justice would be restored to them.
