HYDERABAD, July 11: A big portrait of People’s Party Shaheed leader Benazir Bhutto was burnt in Unit-8 Latifabad area in the limits of B-section police station on Thursday.

Sindh People’s Youth Organisation activists had hung the picture a couple of weeks ago at a public place. The SPYO divisional president Ahsan Ali Abro claimed that there were three pictures of Ms Benazir Bhutto which had been completely destroyed.

Abro reported the matter to police on Friday for registration of an FIR. He accused some Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s activists of burning the portrait.

In the meantime, MQM MPA Sohail Yusuf and UC naib nazim Dr Afzal also arrived at the spot and spoke to Abro. The MQM representatives assured him that if any activist of their party was found involved in this act, he would be taken to task.

Abro told journalists that the MQM MPA and the naib nazim had offered to provide another portrait of Ms Bhutto for display at the same place.
