Criminals shoot policeman

KHANEWAL, July 10: Three criminals killed a policeman during a chase in 47/10-R village in Sadar police precincts on Thursday.

Constables Shafaqat Ali and Muhammad Riaz of Nawan Chowk checkpoint were on a routine patrol near 47/10-R village on Garhamor Road.

At 11am, they tried to stop three men who were riding a motorcycle without a number plate, but they did not.

The policemen chased the motorcyclists and they opened fire at them, killing Ali at the scene. In retaliation, Riaz opened fire and injured two of the criminals. However, the criminals fled.

Later, Sadar DSP Malik Ijaz Hussain identified one of the criminals as proclaimed offender Iqbal.
