MUZAFFARGARH, July 9: Newly-elected Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Haroon Sultan Bukhari has joined the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N).

Mr Bukhari was elected MPA in a by-election on June 26 as an independent candidate after defeating Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) hopeful Dr Zaqaullah Jatoi.

Talking to Dawn, he said after the oath-taking last week, he had met Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and announced joining the party.

He said he was the only MPA from Muzaffargarh district whom the PML-N had accepted in the party, while other PML-Q MPAs and several tehsil nazims were also trying to join the party but they had not been given any green signal from the party leadership.

He said he hoped the PML-N would make him a minister and he would make Muzaffargarh a castle for Nawaz Sharif.

In the general elections on Feb 18, Mr Bukhari was defeated as PML-Q candidate from PPP’s Sardar Qayyum Khan Jatoi.
